GIFT BASKET SCHEDULE FOR CHRISTMAS 2023 

UPDATE 23/12/2023

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Customers for their orders and support this November and December. We really appreciate your custom and loyalty & trust that your friends, family and colleagues are enjoying their gifts.

The vast majority of your Christmas Gifts have now been successfully delivered. Any problems reported to us yesterday were resolved by sending replacement items on the upgraded Saturday delivery service. Damages are usually few and far between, but occasionally there is the odd breakage in transit & we work quickly to fix these issues. For any recipients who weren't at home to receive their gifts yesterday, the couriers are still working today (Saturday) and then will re-open on 27th Dec (UK) and 28th Dec (ROI). We too will be back in the office on Wednesday 27th December if anyone needs assistance. Otherwise the recipients can rebook directly with the couriers themselves via their online systems (text/email notifications are usually received when a mobile number has been provided).

We are finishing up today (Saturday 23rd Dec) at 1pm, to allow our team to get their own Christmas Shopping done & have a well earned break. Nothing more can ship out today, but we have responded to any queries received up until 1pm & made arrangements if required. Please be assured any other issues will be responded to when we reopen.

We have also placed some Christmas Hampers into the New Years Sale, so if you are still in the market for gifts be sure to check this out.

We will resume dispatches to the UK on Wed 27th December & to Ireland on 28th December. You will see the calendar at checkout allows you to select Friday 29th Dec for delivery, but it could be before that date too. Friday is the latest day it will arrive.

As the Summer season ends, and Autumn is drawing in, orders for gifts gradually increase in the Gift Basket and Hamper world.  The busiest season of the gifting industry will soon be upon us, and preparations are well underway in the land of gift baskets and hampers.  Here at Basketsgalore and Irish Gourmet our Christmas Gift Hampers and Xmas Gift Baskets were finalised at the very beginning of summer, and are now available for Pre-Ordering.  We've already been approached by several corporate companies in August, requesing the design of customised Xmas Gift Hampers for staff and clients.  With only 17 weeks until Christmas Day, now is the time to finalise your Christmas hamper order - so please get in touch with your company requirements and to pre-book while our full range is still available to select from.  If you can't see a Xmas hamper or gift that meets your budget or specifications please get in touch as soon as possible, while there is still time for us to design a customised Christmas gift for your organisation. New Year 2023 Delivery updates

 

Hi Everyone, Hope you had a Merry Christmas with your tasteful hampers.

Today Wednesday is the first day back at work for many of us after the Christmas Holiday.

Between Christmas and New Year, the delivery network makes some key changes in our busiest national markets, which we think is important to advise you about if you considering placing an order with us.

All our couriers have a tracked online delivery code, which becomes live as soon as it is collected from one of our warehouses.  We use DHL, DPD, UPS & DSV, so there are no strikes, delays or problems.

 

Wednesday 28th December, 2022

 

UK Couriers collecting / Irish & EU Couriers not collecting

We Ship all orders placed by 2pm on Wednesday with DHL to GB

No EU or Ireland orders will be dispatched

 

Thursday 29th December, 2022

All couriers collecting

All GB orders overnight up until 3pm Thursday will ship same day

All Ireland & EU orders received between Christmas Eve and Thursday 29th December at 2pm will ship this day.

 

Friday 30th December, 2022

No couriers collecting, only deliveries are being made.   Airplanes will be parked for the holidays in the regions and won’t be taking off again until after the New Year.  

Cargo will simply sit in depots and not move, therefore our decision is to package and assemble no gift baskets on this day.

DELIVERY UPDATE 06/07/22

We are pleased to report that daily delivery slots (Tuesday-Friday) will be able to continue throughout the Summer Months, with the exception of W/C 11th July 2022.

There will be no dispatches or deliveries this week to both Ireland and the UK, as we tie in a local holiday period with time required for staff training and office improvements.

The calendar at checkout will show these dates are blocked out and dispatches will resume on Monday 18th July, for delivery from Tuesday 19th July onwards.

We will endeavour to respond to any queries received during this time period, but may not be as responsive as during normal operating hours.

We are still dispatching for delivery to UK on Easter Tuesday 19th April.
UK couriers DON'T operate on Friday 15th.  Wednesday 13th at 3pm (GMT) is cut off for delivery to Britain.
Orders placed after 3pm Wednesday 13th up to 3pm Thursday 14th will be dispatched same day for arrival on Easter Tuesday 19th April.

DELIVERY UPDATE 16/02/22

All Gifts Baskets and Hampers ordered to date have been shipping within 48 hours with the the majority shipping on the same day as your order.  That means that with the exception of certain remote ares of the island and the off-shore islands your orders have been arriving no later than 72 hours from the time of your order.    We have been acchieving this target we set ourselves consistently now, there was a time during the lockdowns when in some cases our turnaround was as long as 8 days, but everybody was really patient and understanding of the difficulties of working at that time.  We just kept chipping away at that time and then worked very hard to keep it down as we appreciated the urgency of many of your orders.  You can read how we progressed operationally & logistically throughtout the thread.

Exciting news is that we are in the middle of a roll out of a whole new range of Birthday Hampers and Gifts for Birthdays and are in the midst of improving the visitor experience to showcase the highlights/features of certain gift basket styles.

Also being worked on behind the scenes are our new Thank You Gifts and Congratulations Gifts are at pre-launch stage.  These ranges have been due a revamp, but there have been operational priorities trumping the improvements we would have normally carried out over the past 2 years of Covid restrictions.  

Our Mother's Day Gift range is long established as a popular Gift idea for  Mothers across Ireland and Europe.  We expect to have the new additions for the 2022 range completed by the end of next week assuming our full complement of staff are able to work.  Our Easter Gifts range, which was extremely popular last year with an expansion away from Children's Easter Gifts such as the one linked to, to a more traditional adult or Family Easter Hamper type theme is settled and the challenge is on to secure the stock to meet demand.  All Easter Gift Baskets are available to purchase now.  Please note that the traditional natural look wicker has been changed to a pure satin white finish at no extra cost.  There will be no price rises for either Mother's Day Gifts nor Easter Gifts this year as we have the bulk of our stock secured with the exception of Easter Eggs themselves.

Which brings us back to the delivery schedule.  Since the start of Covid restrictions on all our daily lives which was almost exactly 2 years ago we have operated a weekly delivery date and if you scroll down this blog, you will see that from the earliest days, we did everything we could to keep our customers informed about our delivery status.  This was particularly important in the immediate panic and throughout the lock-downs when we were in the "fortunate" position of living so close to our warehouse and not being a drop shipper.  We design, assemble and dispatch all our own gift baskets and hampers under our own label.  We may not have been able to dispatch on the same day, but we were able to advise before an order was placed on an estimated delivery date.

Moving ahead into the Spring, delivery slots will be available Tuesday through to Friday, but please take into consideration a delivery delay of 1-2 days either because of logistical difficulties with the delivery company due to staff shortages or because of inclement weather conditions.  This is Ireland, we do get snow in April and February/March is usually the worst time of year for sickness and storms. Deliveries to Europe funnily enough don't take much if any longer.  Our freight leaves Dublin on the continental flights to major European cities on a daily basis so we're a really interesting alternative to companies in places like Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.

Although you will be able to pick these daily slots, we have included a notice during checkout to explain these are not guaranteed dates. There is a very good chance your gift will arrive then, but there is still a chance of staff shortages due to isolation or the couriers being backlogged in certain areas. Due to this the delivery date is not a guaranteed delivery date, but an estimated one that we will do our very best to achieve for you.

February already and Valentine's Day is the next main gift giving occasion on the horizon.

With restrictions easing further and more people returning to work, we have made the decision to reintroduce more delivery date slots in the calendar during checkout.

Going forward this Spring, delivery slots will be available Tuesday through to Friday. Monday 14th February will also be available for the special occasion of Valentine's Day.

Although you will be able to pick these daily slots, we have included a notice during checkout to explain these are not guaranteed dates. There is a very good chance your gift will arrive then, but there is still a chance of staff shortages due to isolation or the couriers being backlogged in certain areas. Due to this the delivery date is not a guaranteed delivery date, but an estimated one that we will do our very best to achieve for you.

We design and assemble limited batch Christmas Hamper creations and as you can imagine they are
extremely popular at this time of year. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working night and day,
every day to prepare a stock reserve of the most popular of our designs. We are meticulous in our
focus on ensuring that we deliver our Christmas Hampers before Christmas so we only take an order if
we are 100% certain that we can deliver on your expectations.

FRIDAY 10th December

All orders requesting this delivery slot + all orders received by lunchtime on Monday 6th December, which request the earliest delivery date.

 

FRIDAY 17th December 

All orders which have requested this delivery slot + all orders received by close of business on the 9th of December will ship between Monday 13 December and Thursday 16 December.

Now September is here,  Christmas hamper and Xmas gift basket enquiries from corporate customers have started.  We're also receiving quite a lot of orders from individual retail customers for Christmas hampers which is unusual at this stage.  Our major issue this Christmas will be having enough stocks of wicker hampers and baskets to meet demand.  We are still awaiting the arrival of several containers being shipped from China.  During Xmas 2020, demand driven by Covid-19 was unprecedented, forcing us to go sold out on the 3rd December!!  So with that in mind, if you are a business considering placing a Christmas hamper order, don't hesitate to get in touch. MOTHER'S DAY UPDATE 11/03/21

We have been busy dispatching your Mother's Day Gifts all this week, with the cut off for Pre Mother's Day delivery falling at 2.15pm today, Thursday 11th March.

Any orders for Mother's Day received between now and 2pm tomorrow (Friday), will ship out on Friday 12th March. The official delivery date for these orders will be Monday 15th March, however there is a chance the couriers may work on Saturday to clear any backlog. Although there is a good chance of this it cannot be guaranteed, as there is currently no official Saturday delivery service.

Any orders placed on Friday afternoon, and over the weekend, for Mother's Day will then be shipped on an express service on Monday, with a high chance of delivery on Tuesday 16th March.

We are even happy to include a "Sorry it's late" note to take the blame instead of you if you wish :)

Mother’s Day Gift Deliveries

Our first Easter orders shipped at the end of last week and we will continue to send daily as per your orders.  The vast majority of baskets will ship between 29th March and 1st April.  There will be a brief hiatus in dispatching from Friday 2nd April until Tuesday 6th April due to the Easter holidays.  We will return on 7th April to begin dispatching orders received over Easter.

With Spring just around the corner, it feels as if there is a little light at the end of a long, difficult and stressful winter, yet we are still all too aware that our island is facing a further 8 weeks of lockdown conditions, which is certain to frazzle all our spirits.

We have a very busy month coming up with Mother’s Day on the 14th March and Easter on the 4 April.  Provisional indications are that demand for our service will be substantial, so we have ensured we have added extra capacity.  

This time last last year Mother’s Day felt surreal as the month of March was dominated by fear of the impending spectre of the virus.  This year the challenge of Easter falling so early in the year will be the dominant theme challenging our operations.

Thankfully our long delayed container finally docked yesterday, which means that our product development work in January and February will not be in vain.  It will also enable us to offer more lower priced baskets as up until now our lowest priced gift baskets have been restricted to our Sympathy range due to stock shortages.

UPDATE 08/02/21

As a business we’ve been relatively untouched by Covid19. We’ve had 2 cases of staff contracting the virus at the very beginning of January, resulting in both them and their “buddies” isolating.

It takes us longer to work when we follow strict social distancing guidelines, the wearing of masks is extremely difficult, the cleaning regime seems never-ending, but by and large all of this is manageable.

What’s more difficult to manage is the impact of Brexit on supply chains. We currently have baskets to cover the next 3-4 weeks of orders. If our twice delayed container doesn’t arrive in by then then we’re Baskets-are-all-Gone. Whilst we buy most of our products in Ireland, a lot of packaging and raw materials that our suppliers use comes from Britain, so if their production schedules are delayed then their delivery to us is delayed.

After all Basketsgalore was conceived as a result of our need to send Mummy a present when we were living in Australia. A large number of Gift Basket Creations are being returned to stock this week as we wrestle with the challenges of working with Covid19 Restrictions, Brexit complications and supply delays with materials.

The biggest hurdle to overcome is the delay of our first container of 2021. Compound this with an extremely busy Christmas period, which decimated our reserve stock and we find ourselves for the first time in our history having to withdraw products on the basis of the raw materials.

Since Christmas we have been creating new concepts and ideas in our non standard baskets and new gift boxes.  Today we are identifying the gift baskets, which can be assembled in house swiftly for fast dispatch with DPD across Ireland to cater for the needs and demands of our customers.

We are committed to providing a quality of gift basket and service which exceeds our customers expectations, but please be aware that we are only a small part of the supply chain and ours is a very labour intensive industry.

In spite of that we are organised, have staff on clear work circuits and whilst we apologise that our range is more restricted than we would like at this time of year, we will work hard to bring more gift basket options online as soon as stocks allow.

The reason for this schedule is due to pressures on the delivery network and our operational system of managing exceptional volumes.  

We are a warehouse manufacturing operation, not a retailer, so please do not take offence if we appear slower as in the past.  We respond to all emails swiftly and are committed to delivering a super service and your satisfaction. Unfortunately we can only control the process from the moment of your order to the moment it leaves our warehouse, which is why we are being so clear about what we are capable of achieving.

You are very welcome to pre-book for Christmas now. Simply select your preferred delivery week in December. We are experiencing very high order volumes - and recommend reserving gift baskets now, as we run the risk of selling out very early this Xmas.

You will only see Friday dates available in the calendar at checkout. We are busy dispatching Monday-Thursday and so your order may arrive a few days before this. Update Wednesday 7th October 2020

Since our return to full time order processing on 14th September we have been busy shipping all your gift baskets and hampers out, as well as continuing with our facilities upgrade. We have also invested heavily in new equipment, upgraded our systems, launched the new website and ordered all our Christmas stock. Never a dull moment here.

We have made the decision to continue operating a weekly delivery schedule. This means Customers will only see Friday dates available in the calendar at checkout. Although only Friday shows, we are still busy dispatching Monday-Thursday and so your order may arrive a few days before this. The Friday date is the LATEST date your gift will arrive, not the exact date. Unfortunately specific delivery dates cannot be met at this time.

Update Wednesday 2nd September 2020

We have been comfortably keeping pace with the demand for our Gift Baskets throughout the Summer of 2020.  However, customers will be aware that we are still only offering a weekly delivery schedule.

The reason for this has been our need to amend our facilities and train new staff in our operating processes for the Winter.

The biggest change has been the creation of a second order processing area, which is necessary to create 2 separate staff shifts minimising risk of spreading the virus throughout the company.

Therefore to complete the works quickly and to create work teams, which act as independent units, at the same time as launching an entirely new website (we like to keep busy), we will not be dispatching orders between Thursday 3rd September and Friday 11th September.

All orders received from lunchtime on  2nd September will be dispatched between the Monday-Wednesday of the week commencing 14th September.

We trust this does not cause too much of an inconvenience to our customers.  The calendar at checkout will show Friday 18th September as the next available delivery date as this is the latest date your order will arrive, but it may well be a few days prior to this. You will receive a dispatch email once it has shipped so that you know it is on the way.

Our last day of dispatches this week is Thursday 30th July, 2020. We will be shipping today, Monday 27th until Thursday 30th July with all orders received between 12 Noon Thursday of last week and today at 9am being dispatched today and tomorrow.

For all orders received this week there is approximately a 48 hour turnaround time.  Orders received on Thursday by 12 noon will ship same day.

 

The calendar date at checkout is an estimated latest date of delivery and it will therefore only allow you to select Friday 31st July or a Friday in the future as the Delivery date.

GENERAL SUMMARY UPDATE | JULY 2020 | THE FUTURE

 

It has been 4 months since we started our regular COVID 19 Updates in response to the Pandemic.

April and May were synonymous for us with Face Masks, 7 day weeks, no staff, organising a clear order processing queuing system enabling us to work safely and 3 week crisis management periods.

We were able to keep working as we are working company directors and food distribution warehouses were deemed essential businesses.  

 

June saw an easing of lockdown and whilst we maintained the Social distancing rules, we were able to dispense with the masks.  That was such a relief.  It is extremely difficult to communicate with masks on all the time.  The combination of switching to a 7 day working week with longer hours and varied shift patterns enabled us to work some of our time isolated and reduced social interaction.  

 

All along this journey we were gradually improving our order turnaround times because we were getting faster, some staff were able to return and shops were gradually reopening.

We had our busiest ever Fathers Day week and not only had our order turnaround dropped from an average of 7 days to 3 days, but we were able to dispatch orders received for next day delivery for the first time in months.

 

Now in July when things are at their quietest, we needed to take a week off from dispatching orders between 13th July- 19th July in order to enable 1st Fix essential building works required for this Autumn/Winter time.  It also enabled Staff members and ourselves to coordinate holidays at the same time.

 

For the month of August we will be operating with 5 delivery dates.

As a General rule all orders received from Friday to Monday mornings will ship on Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday.  All orders received on Monday/Tuesday will ship on Wednesdays and all orders received on Wednesday/Thursday mornings will ship on Thursday.  

Our 2nd Fix Building works to prepare for the likelihood of a Winter 2nd wave will be carried out between Friday 4th September and Sunday 13th September.  We will then be in a position to fulfil orders throughout the busy Winter period.   

All of this means that there are no plans for the remainder of 2020 to resume a Next Day Service

There are simply too many variables in terms of the virus, stock, suppliers, distribution and staffing to be able to offer such a service.  It will be well into 2021, possibly even 2022 before we are able to even think about being able to match the Pre Covid19 era.

We will be resuming the wearing of Face Masks from September as the weather starts to turn in anticipation of the Winter Flu season to minimise chances of contagion in the workplace.

Update Monday 6th July 2020

Our last day of dispatches this week is Wednesday 8th July, 2020.  We will return on Sunday July 19th and resume dispatching orders from Tuesday 21st July.

The reasons for the 1 week gap in dispatches are two fold.  

  1. To enable essential building work to be carried out to enable safe working distancing in the forthcoming winter.  This is in the form of an extended Office and Staff Dining Area
  2.  To enable holidays to be taken in one single block by core staff who have not been able to take any breaks this year.

Therefore, all orders received up until 3pm on Wednesday 8th July will be shipping on or before this coming Wednesday.  If you request a date for next week then it will ship automatically on Wednesday 8th July, so please note this before ordering.

All orders received after the 8th July Cut-off time will be processed on 19th July and will begin shipping from Monday 20th July.

We will be continuing to operate a 7 day working week with limited bulk shipping days in order to maintain the safe social distances required from us with regards to the Covid 19 guidelines.

All orders received up until 1pm on Thursday 18th June will have shipped today unless you have requested a later delivery date .

All orders received from 1pm today (Thursday) will be shipping next week unless they are clearly for Father's Day in which case we will dispatch sooner. If your gift is for Father's Day and ordered by 2pm on Friday 19th June we will ship it for Monday delivery on your behalf.  

 

GOING AHEAD

We will be dispatching Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of next week, so orders placed over the weekend will ship on Tuesday according to our production schedule with orders at start of next week shipping on Wednesday.

Update Monday 15th June 2020

The shops across Ireland and Britain are re-opening. However, it is still far from being business as

usual and it is unlikely to be the case for quite sometime.

 

We will be continuing to operate a 7 day working week with limited bulk shipping days in order to

maintain the safe social distances required from us with regards to the Covid 19 guidelines.

 

All orders received up until 10am on Friday 12th June will have shipped today unless you have

requested a later date or we have held it back for delivery closer to Father's Day. All orders received

over the weekend will ship tomorrow. However, we will try to hold back as late as possible any

orders which are clearly for Father's Day.

 

GOING AHEAD

 

All orders received from 10am on Monday 15th June this week up until our cut off point this week will be dispatched from our warehouse on Wednesday & Thursday 17/18th June of this week. We will be attempting to dispatch everything on Wednesday because there are traffic build ups evident and that will translate into a knock on delay as the week goes on.

FATHER'S DAY GIFTS Interim Update Monday 1st June, 2020

For all Father's Day Gifts please select Wednesday 17th June as your delivery date.  We will be dispatching on Tuesday through Wednesday and into Thursday during that week.  We will pull out Father's Day Orders and schedule them for Wednesday 17th or Thursday 18th dispatch unless you specifically request so that it is as close as possible to Fathering Sunday.

Please note we will be closing our Father's Day Order book earlier than previous years as we are limited by hours in the day, staffing shortages and social distancing regulations.

We anticipate last orders for pre Fathers' Day delivery to be approximately 14th/ 15th June, but may need to bring this forward in the event of any surge in orders.

Lockdowns are being eased in our operating jurisdictions, but it is far from being business as usual. We will be continuing to operate a 7 day working week with limited bulk shipping days in order to maintain the safe social distances required from us with regards to the Covid 19 guidelines.  Our objective is to bring down average dispatch times efficiently to provide the best possible service to our customers despite the circumstances.

All orders received up until 10am on Monday 25th May will have shipped this week on a next day delivery service where such a service exists.  

 

GOING AHEAD

* All orders received from 10am on Monday 25th May up until approximately 5pm or close of business on Thursday, 28th May will be dispatched from our warehouse on Monday 1st June.  Expect a 24 hour day for Ireland and European deliveries due to the Bank Holiday Public Holiday in IRELAND on Monday 1st June.

From Monday 1st June our calendar will therefore show 10th June as estimated delivery date, but we may attempt to dispatch earlier to assist our operational logistics in anticipation of a busier than usual Fathers Day.

From Monday 25th May our calendar will therefore show 3rd June as estimated delivery date, but we may attempt to dispatch earlier to assist our operational logistics.

Update 7th May 2020

Our 7 days weekly schedule is continuing for the month of May. We are still in National Lockdown until 18th May and it is important that we do what is asked of us with regards social distancing.

We are still operating with Directors and core Operational Staff and are able to maintain safe social distances between us through Warehouse and Office Zoning.

We started today training existing staff in Operations in preparation for the lifting of lockdown.

All orders received up until 5pm Sunday 3rd May will have shipped this week on a next day delivery service where such a service exists.



GOING AHEAD


All orders received from 5pm on Sunday 3rd May up until 5pm Wednesday, 6th May will be shipping on Monday 11th May.

The exceptions to this rule are Gift Baskets sent for International Mothers Day, which will ship Today 7th May and Friday 8th May.

-All orders from 5pm Wednesday 6th May until Sunday 3pm on 10th May will ship next Wednesday 13th May.

-Orders from Sunday evening of the 10th May until approximately Wednesday evening of the 13th May will ship the following Monday, 18th May.

Update 22 April 2020.

We are continuing to work a 7 day weekly schedule with reduced staff numbers to ensure social distancing. We are able to provide an approximate date of dispatch based upon the time of your order. Currently we are operating 5-7 days in arrears, which is why the only available dates for delivery are from Wednesdays from 6th May onwards. We cannot stress this enough, the calendar date is an estimated latest date of delivery. What this means is that all orders received over Easter and up until Wednesday 15th April will have shipped on Monday 20th April.  

All orders from 12pm on Wednesday 15th April until Friday 2pm of the 17th April will ship today Wednesday 22nd April.

As you can see this means that we are operating between 5 and 7 days in arrears.  This is a necessary state of affairs due to logistics, staff and warehouse space restrictions on safe working.  All of these orders had the 29th April as an estimated delivery date.

GOING AHEAD

All orders from Friday 17th April until 5.45pm on Tuesday 21st April will be dispatched on Monday 27th April. Orders from Tuesday 21st at 5.45pm until Friday 24th April at 5pm will dispatch the following Wednesday 29th April.

All deliveries are usually with 1-2 days, but can be delayed if Medical freight takes priority.

Ciséain Go Leor  Customer Announcement - Covid 19

We have taken the extraordinary measure of suspending orders on our website from 11am on Saturday 28th March.  We are not closing and the facility will be manned by one of us, it is a temporary suspension of dispatches only.

We expect you have more important things to worry about, than reading an update from our little family run Gift Basket company, but we wanted to let you know, to explain why, and our plans to get back to work - serving you.

The reason for this suspension are 4 fold.

1. LABOUR

It's a time intensive business at the best of times.  And with just us 3 Siblings, and 2 staff members we simply cannot process your orders quickly enough in a safe manner. We have a standby group if anything happens to us, and we of course have staff furloughed to return when things outside are safer.  But, for now, we have to rotate warehouse and office space to keep us all individually isolated. We have adapted very well and our facility is manned 7 days a week from sunrise to long after sunset. Alas in spite of thousands of square feet of warehouse, and the ability to zone it off quite effectively, we effectively march at the speed of the office’s ability to process.

2. LOCATION

All of us will have our own tales to tell of Covid 19’s impact based on our location and time.  We believe that at this moment in time in our location, we help the most by stopping movement totally for a 3 week period with only emergency or essential exceptions.  Whilst we are not on the list of businesses, which must stop trading, we believe we serve society better by ceasing dispatches for a temporary period.

3. INCREASING DEMAND

We have been ahead of the curve for the past month putting measures in place to protect and serve our staff and customers.

Weekend of March 7th - Surfaces and Hygiene targeted
March 9th - Vulnerable staff sent home and told to isolate
March 14th - Moved to a 7 day week, 15 hour day to exceed social distancing guidelines
This is our 2nd week of limited dispatch days, and whilst we have managed it, we’re really riding our luck.  So over this weekend and up until Tuesday we know we can ship all orders going at the pace we are working.

4. PREPARATION

We need the time to prepare to use what small resources we have to organise to help others locally, or target aid for particularly badly affected urban areas. We’re thinking about what comes next.

We don’t know in what format or guise we will be returning to in 3 weeks time, which we fear may be overly optimistic.  For comparison sake, Wuhan is only just beginning to return from lockdown after more than 2 months. Perhaps we will be needed to support the Retail Food Supply Chain in processing and dispatch.  Perhaps we will serve as one of the many small local/regional hubs which collectively will take up some of the slack from the supermarkets. Perhaps we’ll pack for the supermarkets. We’re just not sure yet.  But we think in 3 weeks we can be part of the solution and not the problem because we’re low intensive, careful and are following a plan.

Helping you

We meant what we said in our recent “Mother's Day” email.  You, our customers are local to us. We are acutely aware that there are many amongst you who have elderly or vulnerable relatives isolating in Ireland & the UK.

During this period where we cannot dispatch, please rest assured that we will monitor all orders and prioritise and process orders received from our current customers.  This allows us to distribute what stock we have, without being overwhelmed in 3 weeks time. Orders placed will be executed as quickly as we can manage it regardless of date specified on shipping calendar.

Please look out for an email from us detailing the code words to use to avail of priority orders.

All that remains is for us to thank you very much for your past custom and support.  We know that this is probably the beginning of the end for our little business. It has been such an privilege to have had a ringside seat into the messages of love, support and friendship that humans can create socially with one another.  From celebrating birth, to mourning death and every conceivable gift occasion in between, no matter the distance that separates us.
